Next in the line up of the amazing vendors that I will be having at my October 10th show is Pat Story. I remember walking the aisles of the Alameda Flea Market and I came upon Pat's booth. It is one of those  stop you in your tracks booths. All I remember seeing was huge columns, large trophies and mercury glass. I wanted everything! I couldn't invite Pat fast enough to do my show. I am the lucky one because she said yes.

Pat started her business in 1974 and her style has evolved over time. Pat calls her style sophistated cottage, a mixture of rustic and elegance. Pat couldn't decide what style she loved best so she blended the two. Here are a few photos that were recently taken for a publication.

Junk Girls

I met Jenny of Junk Girls through a mutual friend. I saw pictures of her creations online and instantly was awed. This woman is talented! I heard her creations were being showcased at Georgia Moon. I quickly went down to the store and walked in and was enthralled on how Jenny showcases a vintage piece with such emotion. Jenny K is the artist designer part of Junk Girls. Jenny makes art, water features and furniture using found and recycled objects. Each of her pieces are one -of-a -kind and usually starts with a theme or metaphor. A piece needs to speak to Jenny before she begins. Each piece is about the character and the message and oftens says what people can't or don't know how to say. 

One of the things that Jenny does that speaks to my heart and passion is giving back to the world of social good.

1.  I, too, am a very shy person. I am an observer but force myself out into situations to challenge myself.

 

2.  I profess to be neat and organized but I am totally the opposite. I dream of order and sometimes it happens but it is something that doesn't come naturally.

 

3.  I hoard magazines and hide actually how much I spend on them  from my husband. I tell him that it is a business expense.

 

4. I hide stashes of chocolate around the house from my family. Did I say wine, also...

 

5.  We have pets and I like them but do not like them in the house.

 

6.  I tell my husband that I like the house just the way it is but I am dying to redecorate!

 

7.  I don't want my son to ever move out... He is so much fun!

 

8.  I hate ironing. My Mom forced me to iron all my Dad's hankies and t-shirts. Who irons these things!

 

9.  I love flea markets. I love the thrill of the hunt and to see how creative people can be.

 

10. I love the Lord

Thank you! Thank you! It is my morning ritual with my cup of coffee to read all of your blogs. It is addicting and I love each and everyone of you. It is wonderful reading about your lives, your dreams, your passions and seeing you achieve them.

 

   

 

Antique and White

About eleven years ago, I met Sidney. Sidney owned a company called Country House Fabrics in Camarillo, California. We started a great business relationship which then became a fun friendship. I would run in to Sidney and her friend Sandi at all lthe flea markets. We had an understanding when we ran into each other that if I don't spend much time with you at the flea markets is because I don't want to miss ANYTHING. Over the years, our lives have changed. Sidney sold her company and I sold my store. We continued to stay in touch. When I found out that Sidney and Sandi were selling at shows, I invited her to Remnants. I love these two! They are so much fun. The only thing is that they set up their booth so quickly so that they can shop the show while everyone else is still setting up. I have learned that I need to stay ten steps ahead of that pair! You will love their style. They find the real deal in antique white furniture. None of the quickly painted white stuff here. They also collect the unusual in smalls and you will find many of the pieces from their homes that only live there for a couple of months. I am proud to say that I have a part of Sidney and Sandi in my home right now.

Country French and Garden Antiques

I was walking down the aisles of a local antique show located in Central California when I came across a booth that stopped me in my tracks. This booth said WOW! The owners of this booth were Pat and Harley Bates. Pat was selling the most incredible antique textiles I had ever seen. I remember buying a pillow that I called "Downie Brownie". It was a large round velvet pillow with a beautiful needlepoint and it was ohhh... so soft. Pat and Harley are quite the merchandising team. Their style is country french antiques, garden and whimsical antiques.  Every time I see them at a show, their booth is always an eye catcher. Pat and Harley participated in my very first show. Their booth was the booth that my husband and I had to work on, in my previous post, most the night of the downpour of rain. We were moving linen chairs and French furniture out of the rain for hours. I dreaded calling them the next morning...Pat and Harley were the epitome of graciousness. Harley arrived early the next morning and set up another booth besides helping the other vendors with their rain soaked booths. What a team! They still participate at every show, but inside the Barn, and continue to be my cheering squad. Amazing French settee!

 

Vintage Art and Charming Finds

Patti and I met at the Santa Monica Flea Market about fours years ago. Patti had the kind of booth that you did not want to leave. Everywhere you turned there were neat and unusual treasures. I invited Patti to participate at my very first show. The Barn was full so she was outside on the grass with just a few other vendors. She arrived on Friday to set up her booth. The day progressed and so did the weather. The forecast was for high clouds. Well...it looked like more than high clouds. Patti was so worried that it was going to rain. We left for the evening and fell into an exhausted sleep until the phone rang at 2:00 in the morning with the owner of the Barn telling me that the rain was collapsing the booths. Your worst nightmare. My husband and I rushed out and started working on getting the water off the tents. By morning, you would never had known that it had even poured it was so gorgeous. Patti had an awesome day. I am so happy that she has continued to participate after such a rocky start. Thank you Patti! Please stop by Patti's booth in the Barn. French Antiques

I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Coco and Fred of Grenouille at the San Francisco Gift show in their Vintage section  about ten years ago. They are a brother and sister design team specializing in French antiques. Their store in San Francisco is filled with everything French from antique campaign day beds to religious artifacts. Coco and Fred make many trips back to their native France and scour the country for interesting and rustic treasures. They have been featured in numerous magazines and books over the years.

 

Coco is a little tiny thing, beautiful and strong. She can lift the heaviest items out of her truck and then turn it around and make an amazing beautiful display. Coco has a beautiful spirit, great smile and is immensely talented. Fred, as many of the women at the show tell me, so cute and so French and they love to hear him talk.  Ladies he is happily married! Fred is incredibly gifted in design and merchandising and he and his wife, Wendy, have had their home featured in many magazines. Coco and Fred are quite the design team and you will love them!

Euro-Linens

It has been awhile since I have posted but I have been getting ready for my Fall show on October 10th, 2009. I have improved my website to include the names of the vendors that I will have at each show. I will be introducing each of my vendors before the show. I have an amazing group of people for this show. I proudly present Euro-Linens owned by a darling couple Eric and Daniela. They sell vintage textiles from Europe. They offer antique euro shams to vintage ticking pillows of their design. I met Eric and Daniela at a flea market around six years ago. I bought from them frequently for my store. When I decided that I was going to give this show, I invited them to participate. They agreed! I was so honored because they are known everywhere. They have done each show since. One of my favorites are their Rag Book pillows made from vintage cloth children's books.
